LANDSLIDE
On the seventh May 1846
A huge landslide on the shores of Lake Taupo cashed onto a Marae killing lots of people including Ngati Tuwharetoa leader.
The slip dammed a stream which three days laterburst its barriers and with irresistible force swept rocks trees into the lake
In 1910 another landslide killed one person in a new village .
This still causes problems for engineers working on State Highway .
egineers cant work there because of all the ricks and trees that are in the way
